Meet The Team

Hugo Spiegl
Managing Director

I learnt to letterpress print at school, aged 13! I joined the family firm in 1991 and slowly took over from my father who established the company in the late 1950s. I can operate all equipment and carryout all bookbinding processes. Proficient with all software and maintaining the website.

Interests and hobbies:

Sailing and all things to do with water! (and sitting down!). Once was a very keen rower (until my back gave way) and still am the treasurer at Peterborough City Rowing Club. Hobbies include making things particularly shoes! Leicester City Football Club and Leicester Tigers!

A fun fact about me: I rowed against Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent. They won.

Director

I have worked at Spiegl Press since 2006 - it was a 'Happy 40th' present from Hugo - he needed a manager in the business! Prior to that I was in the hospitality and retail trades - just slightly different! A real vertical learning curve!

Interests and hobbies:

Spare time (ha ha!) is spent walking the two dogs - a grumpy old Jack Russell and a diva-like Greyhound (retired racer), and yoga - as many sessions a week as time permits! I love cooking - but nothing fancy and never cakes as I just eat them!

A fun fact about me: I have a real knack for remembering the most obscure facts - but anything important gets forgotten unless its written down!

Office Administrator

I come from an Equestrian background originally and spent many years looking after my own horses which in turn led me on a path to being a Groom in Germany. Since returning to England I have been working in the Hospitality & Catering Trade. Last year I decided that I would like to take on a completely new challenge and joined the team at Spiegl Press/The Stamford Notebook Company. I’m loving every minute.

Interests and hobbies:

I’m a Car Club member and travel round the country attending shows and meets, because of this I spend many weekends cleaning and prepping my car. I help out with the horses at my local yard. I really enjoy camping.

A fun fact about me: I love singing karaoke at home on the XBOX with all the family

Aimee Fionda
Product Developer

Before moving to Cambridgeshire I spent nearly 10 years in London working in Accessories Product Development and Management for several Luxury brands including Paul Smith and Hackett. I joined The Stamford Notebook Team in 2015. I mostly work with leather, developing new product and bespoke orders for clients and I also help to maintain the social media side of the business.

Interests and Hobbies:

I have two young children who keep me entertained, and I am also a keen baker, running baking events in the village where I live. I also need to keep fit to work off all the cake, and I usually end up entering several charity sports events a year so I have something to train for. I also enjoy a gin or two!

A fun fact about me: I am always the last person on the dance floor!
